As the leaves begin to turn and the temperature begins to fall, the urge to throw on a big coat may arise. A dapper alternative to big bulky coats is layering. Layering gives you the ability to take light peaces and layer them on top of each other for comfort in the fall and winter months. Items such as sweaters, vests, jackets and overcoats are excellent items that maintain that dapper feel, but keep you warm. Accessories such as hats, scarfs, and gloves can also be used to add layers and depth to your look.
This week I wanted to get a fall look for this shoot so I went to a local park in Virginia Beach. For the look, the shirt, sweater and slacks are from Banana Republic. The blazer is Kenneth Cole and the trench coat is a thrift store find. For the accessories I have a pocket square from H&M and the scarf is from Urban Outfitters.
Winter is coming and the days will be cold. A dapper man never misses an opportunity to mix up the look and display versatility.
This month I was fortunate to be a part of a campaign that is aimed at spreading awareness of breast cancer and the need for early detection. The Women’s Appreciation Project and Beauty n Strength Magazine put out a calendar that is designed to boost breast cancer awareness. This year’s installment of the calendar features men in suits, so you know I had to be a part of the project.
For my look, I wanted to go very formal for this shoot. I am wearing a black camouflage Kenneth Cole jacket I have been dying to wear. The white shirt, black slacks and patent leather shoes are all Calvin Klein. The black bow tie gives me a very formal tuxedo look that I was trying to achieve. Finally, the pink lapel pin shows my support for breast cancer awareness and adds a splash of color to soften the look.
If you would like to purchase the calendar and show your support for this project, you can find the calendar at Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million. If you are in the Hampton Roads area you can join me and the other models from the calendar at the release party on October 11. It will be held at Broadway Restaurant/Lounge & The Village Jazz Café, 5671 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Norfolk, Virginia starting at 9 pm.
